Biography
Toomas Vavilov, born on July 15, 1969 in Tallinn, Estonia, is a conductor and clarinetist. Vavilov's early career breakthrough included winning first prize at the Estonian Woodwind Players Contest in 1990. He graduated from the Estonian Academy of Music and Theatre in 1992, specializing in clarinet, and later studied conducting at the same institution from 1996 to 1998. He received the Annual Prize of the Endowment of Music in 2001. From 2004 to 2006, he served as the second conductor of the Estonian National Symphony Orchestra, followed by his role as the music director and head conductor at the Vanemuine Theatre from 2006 to 2008. In 2013, Vavilov released the album Fragments from "Swan Lake" by Pyotr Tchaikovsky. He is a member of the Association of Estonian Professional Musicians.
