Biography

Tons of Fun University, a Canadian musical group based in Vancouver, British Columbia, was formed in 2003 by Shane Koyczan and Mike McGee. The trio, which also included C.R. Avery, was known for their unique blend of spoken word, poetry slam, hip hop, rock and roll, folk music, and beatboxing. Their debut performance took place at Café Deux Soleil on December 16, 2003. In 2004, the group made their first appearance at the Vancouver Folk Music Festival, where they were commissioned to write a poem/song for the mainstage event called "Come A Long Way". The following year, Tons of Fun University released their debut album The Them They're Talking About, which included notable tracks such as "New Chapter in the Book of Hobo" and "Skin".
