These Kids Wear Crowns, a Canadian pop-rock band from Chilliwack, British Columbia, formed in 2009. The group initially consisted of Alexander Johnson (vocals), Alan Poettcker (bass), Matt Vink (keyboards), Joe Porter (guitar), and Josh Mitchinson (drums), with Joshua "Gypsy" McDaniel joining later as the second guitarist. Their breakthrough came through MuchMusic's disBand, leading to a contract with Capitol Records/EMI. In 2010, they released their debut single "Break It Up", which debuted at number 60 on the Canadian Hot 100. The band's first EP was re-issued in August 2010 and included the track "We All Fall Down". Their full-length album Jumpstart was released in March 2011, featuring the title track "Jumpstart" which debuted nationally on December 31, 2010. The band toured extensively throughout 2011, performing in Canada and internationally in Singapore and Australia. Notable collaborations included performances with Hedley, Faber Drive, Forever the Sickest Kids, Good Charlotte, Lights, Fefe Dobson, All Time Low, Marianas Trench, and Simple Plan. In November 2015, These Kids Wear Crowns released their second studio album Still Having Fun, preceded by the single "The Best Is Yet to Come". Joe Porter passed away in 2024.
