Biography
The Wackers were a Canadian popârock group formed in 1970 in Eureka, California, after former Roxy members Bob Segarini, Randy Bishop, Michael Stull, Bill âKootchâ Trochim and Spencer Earnshaw consolidated their talents. Their breakthrough came with the single "Travelin' Time" in 1971, which led to a tour of Canada and the United States. In 1972 the band relocated to Montreal, where they recorded Hot Wacks at Andre Perry Studios; the album spawned the singles "I Hardly Know Her Name" and a cover of John Lennonâs "Oh My Love" and received reviews in Billboard and the Montreal Gazette. The following year they released Wackering Heights, featuring the track "Body Go Round" and a sixâsong suite "Time Will Carry On". In 1973 the group issued Shredder, which included the charting single "Day and Night" that reached Number 50 in Canada. After Michael Stull departed, the remaining members recorded an unreleased fourth album, Wack 'n' Roll, before the group disbanded in 1974. Postâdisbandment, Bob Segarini pursued a solo career and later entered television and radio broadcasting. The Wackersâ catalog remains catalogued by Discogs and CanadianBands.com, preserving their contribution to early 1970s popârock.
