Biography

The Steepwater Band is an American rock and blues rock group formed in 1998 in Chicago. The band was founded by Jeff Massey, Joe Winters, and Tod Bowers. Initially focused on performing their own versions of classic blues, the trio played their first concert at Phyllis' Musical Inn in 1998. Their debut recording, the EP Goin' Back Home (2000), featured collaborations with singer-songwriter Michael Connelly, who later joined the group. Their debut album, Brother to the Snake (2001), was followed by the album Dharmakaya (2004). The band performed at the Chicago Blues Festival and opened for Bon Jovi at the United Center in 2005. Their recordings include the album Revelation Sunday (2006), featuring the song “Collision” (2006), which was used in the film One for the Money (2012). In 2012, Eric Saylors joined as a second guitarist. Their discography includes the albums Clava (2011), Shake Your Faith (2016), and Turn of the Wheel (2020). Joe Bishop joined the band on bass in 2019. The group released the album Return of the Wheel in 2022.
