The Selenites Band, a French Ethio-jazz collective, was formed in 2018. The group, composed of five musicians led by Antoine Laloux, drew inspiration from Ethiopian music and other genres such as krautrock, afro-jazz, and psychedelic music. Their debut EP Face Visible was released in May 2019, featuring covers of Mulatu Astatke and Girma Bèyènè. The following month, they collaborated with guitarist Nicolas Dubuc for another EP. In September 2019, their work was compiled into the album Ethio Jazz Groove Project by Martin Dezer of Stereophonk Records. Their subsequent album, Behind the Mask, was released in 2021, showcasing their blend of modern Ethio-jazz and other musical influences.
