Biography

Bordemar, a Chilean musical group formed in Puerto Montt in 1983, is known for blending Chilote folklore with chamber music. The band was founded by professors of musical education and named after the "bordemar," the intertidal zone significant to Chiloé's culture and history. Their early recordings include live performances such as Música de Bordemar (1984) and Banda Bordemar 2 (1986). The group released their first studio album, Colores de Chiloé, in 1987, followed by notable works like Bordevals (1991), Mar Interior (1994), and Al Abordaje (1998). Bordemar's music has been featured in various television programs, including Tierra Adentro, Mea Culpa, and telenovelas on TVN. The band has toured extensively across Chile and Europe, with their compositions often adapting traditional Chilote songs like "La Huillincana" or incorporating dances such as the rin and vals chilote. Their later albums include E-Mar (2001) and Guardianes del Mito (2017).
