The Sea Urchins, an indie pop band from Birmingham, England, formed in 1986. The group released their first tracks, "Cling Film" and "Summershine", on flexi discs through fanzines. Their breakthrough came in November 1987 with the release of "Pristine Christine", the first single on Sarah Records. In July 1988, they released "Solace", produced by Joe Foster, followed by "A Morning Odyssey" in August 1990. After leaving Sarah Records, they recorded for Fierce Recordings and Cheree Records, releasing "Recorded 30.10.1988" and "Please Don't Cry", respectively. The Sea Urchins disbanded in 1991. Posthumously, their compilation album Stardust was released in September 1992, featuring two previously unreleased tracks.
