Biography

The Sacred Mushroom was an American blues rock and psychedelic rock band from Cincinnati formed in 1966. Led by brothers Larry Goshorn and Danny Goshorn, they recorded the debut single “Break Away Girl” / “Yellow Fever” (1967), which was released by Minaret Records. They issued their eponymous studio album The Sacred Mushroom (1969), which featured original compositions and cover versions of the tracks “Mean Old World” (1969) and “I’m Not Like Everybody Else” (1969). The ensemble disbanded in 1969, and the Goshorn brothers subsequently joined the group Pure Prairie League. Their studio album was later reissued by labels including Eva Records (1983), Akarma (2002), and Shake-It Records (2013).
