Biography

The Puppies were an American child hip hop duo composed of siblings Calvin "Big Boy" Mills III and Tamara Dee Mills. The group, formed in Miami, Florida in 1991 under their father and record producer Calvin Mills II's guidance, was known for their energetic Miami bass music. Their career spanned from 1991 to 1997 during which they released notable albums including The Puppies (1992) and Recognize (1996), with the former featuring their biggest hit, "Funky Y-2-C" which reached the Top-40 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100. Despite their early success, the duo dissolved in 1997 following issues with their record labels and contracts. Their music, including catchy tracks like "Hokey Pokey" from their album Recognize left a lasting impression on the Miami bass scene.
