Biography
The Ponys were an American indie rock band from Chicago, Illinois, formed in early 2001 by Jered Gummere. The band began touring locally and released their first singles on Contaminated and Big Neck Records. Their breakthrough came with Laced With Romance (2004) under In the Red Records, which received critical acclaim from publications like Rolling Stone and Spin. After recording Celebration Castle (2005) in four days, Ian Adams left the band and was replaced by Brian Case of 90 Day Men. The Ponys released their third album Turn the Lights Out in 2007 under Matador Records. Nathan Jerde, the band's drummer, died in May 2025.
