Biography

The Phantom Limbs were a post-punk rock band formed in Oakland, California, in 1999. The group featured Loto 'Hopeless' Ball on vocals, Stevenson Sedgwick on keyboards and songwriting, Sköt B on bass and keyboard, Jason Miller on guitar, and Mike Klösoff on drums. Their debut performance took place at the Port-Lite dive bar in Oakland on November 6, 1999. In December 2000, Jello Biafra of the Dead Kennedys signed them to his label, Alternative Tentacles, after witnessing their performance at 924 Gilman Street in Berkeley. Their debut full-length album, Applied Ignorance, was released on Alternative Tentacles in August 2001, followed by extensive tours across the US and Europe. Other releases include Displacement (2003) and Random Hymns (2005). The Phantom Limbs officially disbanded on October 31, 2005 but reunited in 2018 for Jello Biafra's 60th birthday party at Great American Music Hall.
