Biography

The Islanders are an international instrumental project founded in the late 1950s by Randy Starr (real name Warren Nadel, born July 2, 1930 in the Bronx, New York), backed by Frank Metis (accordion) and special sound effects by Ralph F.Curtiss. The group achieved great success in 1959 with the single "The Enchanted Sea", reaching number 15 on the Billboard Hot 100. In the 1960s and 1980s, they released further albums, including the LP Südsee Melodien (1980, Arcade Records, Germany) with instrumentals such as "Blue Hawaii", "Hula Lady" and "Aloha Oe", which reached number 2 in the German album charts and remained in the charts for 13 weeks. The compilation 20 Melodies From Paradise followed in the Netherlands in 1983 and the CD version Blue Hawaii in 1985. 20 Dream Melodies From Paradise in Benelux. Stylistically, The Islanders stand for melodic, exotically inspired easy-listening and instrumental music.
