Biography

The Neckbones were a garage punk band from Oxford, Mississippi. The group formed in 1993 and initially released a full-length cassette titled Painting In Trash. In 1994, the band's original four members began playing together as The Neckbones. They self-released their debut album, Pay the Rent, in 1995. The following year, they signed with Fat Possum Records and recorded their second album, Souls on Fire, which was released in 1997. Despite legal issues at the label, the band continued to release music, including The Lights Are Getting Dim in 1999 and a 10" vinyl-only release titled "Gentleman" on Misprint Records. The Neckbones disbanded in 2001.
