Merry, a Japanese visual-kei rock band, was formed in Tokyo in 2001. The group initially consisted of Gara on vocals, Nero on drums, Tetsu on bass, and Yuu and Kenichi on guitars. Merry released their first maxi-single, "Haikarasan ga tooru", in 2002, followed by "Koseiha Blend" in 2003. Their debut album, Gendai Stoic, was published by Fullface Records and sold over 10,000 copies on its release day. In 2005, Merry signed with Victor Entertainment and released their album Nu Chemical Rhetoric. The band continued to release albums such as Peep Show (2006), M.E.R.R.Y. (2007), and Under-World (2009). Merry participated in tribute albums honoring Atsushi Inoue of New Rote'ka and Michiro Endo of The Stalin, contributing covers to compilations like Crush! -90's V-Rock Best Hit Cover Songs- (2011) and Parade II -Respective Tracks of Buck-Tick-(2012). In 2014, Merry released NOnsenSe MARkeT, marking their return to the European market. The group celebrated their 14th anniversary with the Lamb Fest in November 2015, featuring performances by MUCC and lynch., among others.
