The Magnificents were a Scottish electro rock band formed in 2000 while its members attended the Edinburgh College of Art. The group gained initial traction after performing at a friend's birthday party, leading them to create their own material. The lineup consisted of Tommy Stuart, Steven McGregor, Drew McFadyen, and Casey Miller. Their debut EP Kids Now was released in 2001 on the German label Erkrankung Durch Musique. The band's self-titled debut album, recorded at The Diving Bell Lounge Studio in Glasgow and released in 2003, received positive reviews and airplay from notable DJs. Notable songs include "Get It Boy," which appeared on the soundtrack of the UEFA Euro 2008 game, and "Kids Now," which featured in the Cartoon Network show Codename: Kids Next Door.
