Biography

The Delta 72, an alternative rock band founded in mid‑1994 in Washington, D.C., was led by guitarist, harmonica player and vocalist Gregg Foreman, who later joined Cat Power. Their breakthrough came with the 1995 single "On the Rocks", released jointly by Dischord and Kill Rock Stars, which launched a national tour across the Northeast. In 1995 the group signed with Touch & Go Records, dropping the single "Triple Crown" and the album The R&B of Membership (1996). Subsequent releases included the full‑length The Soul of a New Machine (1997) and 000 (2000), all featuring the band’s blend of punk-blues energy and 1960s R&B influence. The Delta 72 disbanded in July 2001; Gregg Foreman passed away on April 21 2026 in Los Angeles.
