Biography

The Crookes, a British indie rock band, formed in Sheffield in 2007. The group initially consisted of guitarists Daniel Hopewell and Alex Saunders, vocalist George Waite, and drummer Russell Bates. Their early releases included the single "A Collier's Wife" (2009) through Too Pure Singles Club and "Bloodshot Days" (2010) on Heist or Hit Records. The band signed with Fierce Panda Records and released their debut album Chasing After Ghosts in 2011, followed by Hold Fast in 2012. Notable singles from these albums include "Chorus Of Fools" and "Afterglow." In September 2011, Alex Saunders left the band and was replaced by Tom Dakin. The Crookes signed with Modern Outsider in 2013 for their American releases. Their subsequent albums were Soapbox (2014) and Lucky Ones (2016). The band eventually announced their split in 2017.
