Random Hold was a British rock band formed in late 1976 by David Ferguson and David Rhodes. The group's lineup later included Simon Ainley on guitar, Bill MacCormick on bass, and David Leach on drums. After signing to Polydor Records in March 1979, Random Hold released their first single "Etceteraville" that October, followed by the EP Avalanche. Their debut album The View From Here was released in February 1980, coinciding with a month-long tour with Peter Gabriel. Despite positive reviews, Polydor dropped the band shortly after the tour. The band continued to operate independently, but internal conflicts led to their disbandment later that year. David Ferguson revived Random Hold in 1981 under RCA Records, releasing one album, Burn the Buildings (1982). Archival releases include Overview (2001).
