The Bumblebeez, an Australian indie band formed in Braidwood, New South Wales, was founded by Christopher Colonna and his sister Pia Colonna. Initially known as Bumblebeez 81, they gained early recognition when unearthed by Triple J radio station in 2002 and won a competition run by ABC's Fly TV, leading to their signing with Fly Records. Their debut EP White Printz was released in 2002, followed by Red Printz in 2003. In 2004, these EPs were compiled into the album The Printz. The band opened for Radiohead in Melbourne and Sydney that same year. Their first full-length album, Prince Umberto & The Sister of Ill, was released in 2007 and featured the singles "Dr. Love" and "Rio". The album was selected as Triple J's "feature album" and nominated for a J Award on November 28, 2007.
