The Bollywood Brass Band, a brass band specializing in Bollywood and traditional Indian music, was formed in London, England in 1992 to perform with the Shyam Brass Band from Jabalpur, India. The group expanded their repertoire to include Hindi film hits, Bhangra, qawwali, Punjabi folk songs, and wedding songs, incorporating influences from jazz, world music, and modern dance music. Their performances span weddings, world-music festivals, street-music festivals, and cultural events. The band consists of eleven musicians playing various instruments, with Johnny Kalsi and members of the Dhol Foundation contributing on dhol drums. In 1995, they created a parallel performing group called SamBhangra!, which blends Indian and Brazilian music. The Bollywood Brass Band has released several albums, including The Bollywood Brass Band (1999), Rahmania (2002) and Movie Masala (2004).
