Biography

The Alpha Band was an American rock band formed in July 1976 from the remnants of Bob Dylan's Rolling Thunder Revue. The core members included T-Bone Burnett, Steven Soles, and David Mansfield, with additional sidemen such as David Kemper, Andraé Crouch, and Ringo Starr contributing to various recordings. Their debut album, The Alpha Band, was released in 1976, followed by Spark In The Dark in 1977 and The Statue Makers Of Hollywood in 1978. Notable singles include "You Angel You" (1977). The band is particularly recognized for their intelligent cultural critique embedded within their music. The compilation album, Interviews, was released in 1988, followed by another compilation titled The Arista Albums in 2005.
