The Acorn, a Canadian indie folk band formed in Ottawa, Ontario in 2003, was founded by singer-songwriter Rolf-Carlos Klausener. The group initially included guitarist Howie Tsui, bassist Jeff Debutte, and drummer Jeffrey Malecki. They were signed to Kelp Records and released their debut album The Pink Ghosts in 2004. In 2007, they released their album Glory Hope Mountain, followed by No Ghost in 2010. The Acorn toured extensively, opening for acts such as Fleet Foxes and Bon Iver, and performing at festivals including the End of the Road Festival and the Calgary Folk Music Festival. They were long-listed nominees for Uncut Magazine's Uncut Music Award in 2009 for Glory Hope Mountain, which was also nominated for the Polaris Music Prize.
