Terry Snyder was an American drummer and percussionist born in 1916 in New York City. He achieved professional recognition for a career as a jazz and entertainment musician, beginning his professional activities in 1932. Snyder performed with Frank Froeba in the ensemble The Five Shades of Blue (1940) and collaborated with artists including Cliff Edwards, Stuff Smith, and Sarah Vaughan. During the 1950s, he performed in studio orchestras led by Norman Leyden, Percy Faith, and Neal Hefti. He served as a session musician for the Duke Ellington Orchestra, Benny Goodman, and Jimmy Dorsey. His recording career includes the tracks âExotic Soundâ (1960) and âMister Percussionâ (1961) and the solo studio recordings Persuasive Percussion (1959) and Gentle Purr-Cussion (1960). His ensemble, Terry Snyder and The All Stars, featured musicians including Dick Hyman and Tony Mottola. Snyder participated in 133 recording sessions between 1940 and 1960. Snyder died on 17 March 1963.
