Biography

Ernst Heinrich Stauffer, known professionally as Teddy Stauffer, was born in 1909 in Murten, Fribourg, Switzerland. He began his musical career playing violin and saxophone in an amateur band in 1927. In 1928, Stauffer started performing with his orchestra, Teddy And His Band, in Germany. Their breakthrough came with engagements at the Delphi-Palast in Berlin from July to October 1936. Notable members of his band included Walter Dobschinski and Kurt Hohenberger. Stauffer's popularity peaked in the mid-1930s, but he faced challenges with the Reichsmusikkammer due to his jazz/swing music. During World War II, Stauffer relocated to Switzerland and later emigrated to Mexico, where he founded the restaurant La Perla in Acapulco. He also managed several hotels. Stauffer passed away in 1991 in Acapulco.
