Biography
Tchukon was a Canadian funk and R&B band formed in 1978 by Warren "Slim" Williams, Kat Dyson, Harold Fisher, Ingrid Stitt, and Eric Roberts. The band regularly performed in Montreal and on tour and released their first single, "Plastic People" b/w "Love's Gonna Get You", in 1984. In 1985, Tchukon won CBC Televisionâs Rock Wars competition and was named Best Vocal Group at the 1986 Star Search, becoming the first Canadian-based act to win a category. Their Star Search win led to a record deal with Aquarius Records and the release of their debut album Here And Now (1987), which earned a Juno Award nomination for Best R&B/Soul Album that year. The band's momentum was disrupted by various side projects, and they never completed or released their second album.
