Biography

Taxim, a German electronica project founded by Alex Ney in Essen in 1996, began as a solo endeavor focusing on atmospheric electro-industrial tracks. Ney's early work with Commodore-64 music laid the groundwork for his later productions. Taxim gained initial attention from scene DJs but saw limited success until 1999 when Art Voice Media, a Sony Music sublabel, distributed songs from Ney's third studio album The 25th Year. After a brief hiatus due to health issues, Ney returned in 2002 with the single "Genetisches Material". In 2006, Taxim achieved broader recognition with the US debut album Ecclesiophobia, released by Telegrammetry Recordings. The project evolved into a band format in 2010 with the release of Einer für sich, incorporating elements of electro-punk and other genres. Subsequent albums include Monitoring (2012) and Full of Empty (2014).
