Biography

Hannah Junghwa van Loon, known professionally as Tanukichan, is an American singer-songwriter based in San Francisco. Raised in a Christian family in the Bay Area, she began performing classical music and studying various instruments. Her musical journey included playing fiddle in a bluegrass band while majoring in mathematics at University of California, Berkeley. Tanukichan's career started with the independent release of her EP Radiolove in 2016. Her debut album Sundays, produced by Chaz Bear of Toro y Moi, was released on July 13, 2018 via Company Records. In March 2023, she released her second album GIZMO. Tanukichan supported Kero Kero Bonito on their 2018 tour following the release of Sundays and Melanie Martinez on her North American PORTALS Tour in June and July 2023.
