Hydra, an American Southern rock band, was founded in 1970 by Spencer Kirkpatrick (guitar), Wayne Bruce (vocals and guitar), Steve Pace (drums) and Orville Davis (bass). The band's initial lineup included members who had previously played together in various groups. Hydra released their self-titled debut album, Hydra, in 1974 under Capricorn Records, followed by Land of Money in 1975. In 1977, the band transitioned to a three-piece lineup with Wayne Bruce on bass and released Rock the World. Despite critical acclaim for their live performances and albums, Hydra disbanded later that year. The band reunited briefly in 2005 for two shows, resulting in the release of their live album, Hydra: Live After All These Years, featuring Tommy Vickery on bass.
