Biography
Sven-Ingvars, a Swedish pop-rock and dansband group formed in 1956 in Slottsbron, Grums, Sweden, began with Sven Svärd on drums, Ingvar Karlsson on electric guitar and accordion, and Sven-Erik Magnusson on vocals, guitar, clarinet and saxophone, who became the bandâs front figures. Their first public appearance at Folkets Hus in Segmon earned them a fee of 172 kronor and introduced the audience to a rendition of Rock Around the Clock featuring Magnussonâs clarinet, Karlssonâs accordion and Svärdâs drums. The bandâs breakthrough came in the early 1960s with âTeâ dans mä Karlstatöseraâ, followed by the number-one hit âFröken Fräkenâ and a second-place entry with âMin gitarrâ on Svensktoppen. Throughout the 1960s and 1970s Sven-Ingvars released a steady stream of albums, including Guld (1975), Sven-Ingvars i Frödingland (1971) and later the compilation PÃ¥ begäran (1990), and maintained a presence on Svensktoppen with hits such as âSäg inte nejâ and âKristina frÃ¥n Vilhelminaâ.
