Biography

Stan Whitmire is an American Christian pianist born on May 4, 1963, in Atlanta. He began playing the piano at age four and graduated from Georgia State University. Whitmire joined the music ministry at Mount Paran Church of God in 1978. He performed with the Southern gospel ensemble The Nelons during the mid-1980s and early 1990s. In 1997, he began working as an accompanist and vocalist for the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association. Whitmire started performing with Mark Lowry in 2003 and appeared in the Gaither Homecoming concert series. His studio recording Joy Comes in the Morning received a Dove Award for Instrumental Album of the Year at the forty-first GMA Dove Awards in 2009. He received another Dove Award in 2012 for the recording Unfailing Love. His discography also featured the award-winning collections Everlasting Praise 3 and Everlasting Praise 4.
