Biography

Spymob, an American alternative rock band from Minneapolis, Minnesota, formed in the early 1990s. The group, consisting of singer/keyboardist John Ostby, bassist Christian Twigg, guitarist Brent Paschke, and drummer Eric Fawcett, initially performed under the name Reno and recorded several demo songs that were later released as Basement Tapes. Their breakthrough came when they were discovered by Pharrell Williams and Chad Hugo of The Neptunes after they listened to an early demo tape of the band. This led to their signing with Star Trak Entertainment in 2001, where they provided backing instruments for N.E.R.D.'s debut album In Search Of... and contributed the song "Half Steering..." to the compilation The Neptunes Present Clones. Following label changes, Spymob released their major-label debut, Sitting Around Keeping Score, in 2004. The band also collaborated with various artists, including Kelis, Mike Doughty, and Snoop Dogg, and continued to release music independently, such as the album Memphis in 2014.
