Biography

Spencer Day, born in 1978 in a small town in Utah, is an American modern jazz singer and songwriter. He began singing and taking piano lessons at age 20 after a roommate heard him singing in the shower and encouraged him. In 2002, he auditioned and competed on CBS's Star Search, moving onto the finals in the Adult Singer category. His debut album, Introducing Spencer Day (2004), featured his love of jazz standards. In 2009, he released his third album, Vagabond, co-produced with Ben Yonas for Concord Jazz, which peaked at number 11 on Billboard’s Jazz Albums Chart. The album included the hit single “Till You Come to Me”, which peaked at number 3 on Billboard's Jazz Charts in 2010. He has performed at notable venues including the San Francisco Jazz Festival, Yoshi's, and the Kennedy Center. His subsequent albums include The Mystery of You (2013), Daybreak (2014), Angel City (2018), and Broadway by Day (2022).
