Biography
South Carnival is a Korean ska band that debuted in August 2012. The group includes Kang Kyunghwan (vocals and trumpet), Seok Jiwan (drums), Ko Kyunghyun (percussion), Ko Soojin (bass), Joo Yechan (tenor sax), Park Mincheol (trombone), and Yoo Jinkeun (guitar). They play a style of "island music" that combines Korean ska with Latin and Afro beats, inspired by warm and peaceful Jeju Island's atmosphere. Their lyrics are mainly in Korean or Jeju dialect. Their single "Moltewoori," released on June 26, 2025, quickly rose to number 9 on Melonâs Top 500 chart on the day of its release.
