Biography

Real name Soumahoro Mamadou, Ivorian zouglou and reggae singer Soum Bill was born on November 2, 1972 in Aboisso, in the south-east of the country. He was immersed in the world of music from an early age, adopting his stage name at the age of 17, when he joined his first bands. With friends, he founded the group Les Garagistes, whose first album, Enfant Chéri, produced by Soum Bill, was released in relative anonymity in 1992. On the strength of this experience, he launched a new group, Les Salopards, the following year, with the ambition of revolutionizing the zouglou scene, which was then booming in Côte d'Ivoire. Together, they released three albums until 1999, when Soum Bill launched his solo career. His first album, Zambakro , was released in 2000. Two years later, Soum Bill confirmed his ambitions with Terre des Hommes. Several other albums followed, including Que la Lumière Soit (2007), Escale (2013), Zougloumanity (2016) and Impérial (2022), which included the hit "On dead ça", a duet with Didi B.
