Sorkunde Rubio Ansotegi, known as Sorkun, was born in RenterÃa, Gipuzkoa, Spain, on 29 January 1977. She began her musical journey with the Basque rock band Kashbad in the 1990s, contributing vocals before the group disbanded. In 2002, she released her debut solo album Onna through Metak, followed by Duna (2005) on Kontrakalea-Metak and Sorkun & Vice Presidentes (2008) via PIAS. Her 2015 album Ziklomorphosia featured collaborations with Fredi Peláez, Aritz Luzuriaga, Mikel Romero, and Juanma Urriza. Sorkun and her band also performed at festivals such as Bizi Gara and Festimad. Sorkun's later work blends rock with atmospheric electronic textures, incorporating keyboards, synthesizers, and sequencers alongside touches of jazz and trip hop, earning critical acclaim in publications like Mondosonoro and Ruta 66.
