Biography

Sodastream, an Australian folk rock duo consisting of Karl Smith on lead vocals and acoustic guitar, and Pete Cohen on double bass, bass guitar, piano, and backing vocals, formed in Perth in 1996. Their initial lineup included Adam Johnson on drums and percussion. In 1997, they released their debut extended play, Enjoy. After Johnson's departure, Smith and Cohen continued as a duo, releasing the EP Practical Footwear in late 1998. Sodastream released their first album, Looks Like A Russian, on May 22, 2000, followed by The Hill For Company on September 3, 2001, and A Minor Revival on August 4, 2003. Their final studio album, Reservations, was released on May 22, 2006. Throughout their career, Sodastream toured extensively across Australia, the United States, Europe, and Japan, and had national rotation on radio network Triple J. They disbanded in 2007 with their final show at Melbourne's East Brunswick Club in March that year. In 2013, Sodastream announced they had reformed.
