Biography
Like many young rappers and aspiring hip-hop artists of the modern era, Greek rapper Snik built a following for his work via social media before signing with a conventional label. Real name Dimitris Giannoulis, Snik was born in the Athens suburb of Kifissia on May 4, 1987. He released his self-funded debut single âThema Chronouâ which quickly attracted over 100,000 views and subsequently led to a deal with Panik Records. Early promise of success faded and over the next two years, the singerâs career went into freefall, with much of his material attracting negative reviews. Snikâs fortunes changed when he signed with Capital Music in 2015 and within a year he had two number ones, âFerrariâ and âDAB,â the latter a collaboration with rapper Ypo. Giannoulis is now firmly established in the Greek rap and hip-hop scene and has had high-profile collaborations with Laiko singer Giorgos Mazonakis and rappers Noizy and A.M. Sniper. His work with Noizy and A.M. Sniper in 2018 earned him two number one hits with the singles âGangoâ and âGangstaâ, respectively. Author of the albums TopBoy (2020) and 1987 (2022), his success continued with the follow-up TopBoy 2 (2024) and subsequently the number one hit âCasablancaâ.
