Biography

SKRUK, a Norwegian choir, was founded in 1973. The group has been led throughout its career by conductor Per Oddvar Hildre and has toured extensively across Norway and many parts of the world. Over the years, SKRUK has released more than 25 records, all issued through the Kirkelig Kulturverksted label. Their repertoire spans Norwegian folk music, spirituals, world music, and jazz, reflecting their diverse influences, and they have collaborated with artists such as Tord Gustavsen, Henning Sommerro, Mahsa Vahdat, The Brazz Brothers, and Brilliant Dadashova. Erik Hillestad of Kirkelig Kulturverksted has also been a long-term collaborator, contributing as a lyricist and producer. SKRUK has been nominated thrice for the Norwegian music award Spellemannsprisen.
