Skasucks is a South Korean ska punk band, formed in 2006 and known for their dynamic stage presence and a sound deeply rooted in ska-punk and 2 tone influences. They quickly made a name for themselves by opening for notable acts such as The Slackers in 2007 and the Chris Murray Combo in 2008. The band's lead vocalist, Ryu Jinsuk, doubles as a tattoo artist and has become a significant figure in the Korean punk scene, organizing the Korea/Japan Punk Festival and running both a music venue, Club SHARP, and a tattoo parlor, SHARP INK. In 2009, Skasucks garnered further recognition when two of their songs were nominated at the Asia Voice Independent Music Awards: "The Ship is Going Down" for Best Instrumental and "Skaholic" for Genre Bending â Mindboggling â Out of This World Track. Their discography includes several projects like their self-titled albums SKASUCKS (2010) and Out of Control (2014), alongside earlier EPs and compilations that capture their evolving sound. The band's name, Skasucks, is an intentional absurdity, reflecting a self-deprecating take on ska music itself.
