Biography

Born Charles Jones, Jr. in Akron, Ohio on April 25, 1973, the Southern soul and blues singer, songwriter, and pianist is better known by his stage name, Sir Charles Jones. Later moving with his family to Birmingham, Alabama, he began writing, arranging and producing his own music. The self-proclaimed ‘Undisputed King of Southern Soul’ began his musical career in 1994 when he became a backup singer for blues / soul artist Marvin Sease. After leaving Sease’s employment in 1999, Charles Jones released his debut album, Sir Charles Jones, in 2000. The album was a critical success and reached number 84 on Billboard’s R&B / Hip-Hop Albums chart. A year later, he released Love Machine, which proved to be a commercial success as well, hitting number 28 on the R&B / Hip-Hop Albums chart and number 9 on the Independent Albums chart. The release also earned him an Album of the Year Award from American Blues Network (ABN) in 2002. He also won the International Entertainer of the Year award from ABN, the second of four times he won that award. In 2003, he was involved in a serious motorcycle accident, which left him in a coma for several days. While recovering, he released the previously recorded album A Southern Soul Party (2004) before returning to the studio and issuing the album Thank You for Holding On (2006). Following his return to music, he also issued the albums For Your Love: The Best of… (2007), My Story (2008) and A Tribute to the Legends (2009). After a decade long break from releasing albums, he issued The Masterpiece in 2019. That album was followed by albums such as Sir Charles Jones & the Family, Vol. 1 (2019), Intimacy (2020), The Jones Boyz: 2 Kings featuring Jeter Jones (2020), The Chosen One (2021), My Life’s Testimony (2022), and The Elite King (2024).
