Biography

Sylvia Čápová-Vizváry, born on March 12, 1947 in Szombathely, Hungary, is a Slovakian pianist. She began her musical education under the guidance of her mother Gizela, a piano teacher. At age seven, Čápová was admitted to the Conservatory and Academy of Music in Bratislava as a special student. Her early career included winning first prize at numerous statewide competitions in Prague and reaching the semi-finals of the Moscow Tchaikovsky Competition in 1966 and the George Enescu Competition in 1967. Čápová studied at various prestigious institutions, including the University of Music and Performing Arts in Vienna and the Musical Academy in Kraków. She has performed extensively with leading symphony orchestras and released several albums such as Piano Masterpieces (1987) and Small Pieces by Great Masters Vol. 1 (1988). Her performances have been featured on Slovak and German radio as well as Slovak TV.
