Biography

The Silos, an American rock band, was formed in 1985 in New York City by Walter Salas-Humara and Bob Rupe. Their album, About Her Steps (1986), received critical acclaim. The follow-up, Cuba (1987), earned them the title of Best New Artist in Rolling Stone magazine's critics' poll. In 1990, they signed with RCA Records and released their self-titled album, featuring their network TV debut on Late Night with David Letterman. Salas-Humara left the band and purchased the rights to the name from Rupe in 1991. Subsequent albums included Hasta La Victoria! (1992), Diablo (1994), and Heater (1998). Bob Rupe passed away on March 3, 2025, at the age of 68.
