Biography
Chinaski, a Czech pop rock group, was established in 1987 as Starý Hrady by Pavel Grohman and Michal Novotný. In 1989, Petr Rajchert and JiÅà Seydler joined, and the band renamed itself Chinaski after Henry Chinaski from Charles Bukowski's novels in 1994. Their second album, Dlouhej kouÅ (1997), received a gold certification in 1998. In 2005 and 2007, Chinaski won the AndÄl Award granted by the Czech Academy of Popular Music. Notable singles include "Kutil" (2000) and "Klára" (2000). The band's album Originál, released in 2002, was the second highest-selling album in the Czech Republic that year. Chinaski continued to release successful albums such as Rockfield (2014) and 11 (2019).
