Sheer Elegance is a British soul trio comprising Dennis Robinson, Bev Gordon, and Herbie Watkins. The group gained initial recognition by appearing on the television talent show New Faces in 1975. Their first single, "Going Downtown", did not achieve significant success, but their follow-up release, "Milky Way", reached number 18 in the UK Singles Chart early in 1976. This breakthrough was followed by "Life Is Too Short Girl", which peaked at number 9 and spent nine weeks on the chart. Their final national hit was "It's Temptation", reaching number 41 later that year. The group also supported The Supremes during their UK tour and performed for Princess Margaret at the London Palladium in aid of the Migraine Trust. In 1976, they released their self-titled debut album Sheer Elegance. Their final single release was "Dance the Night Away" in 1977, which received airplay but did not chart nationally.
