Biography

Born in Jaipur, Rajasthan, India, Shashwat Sachdev is a well-respected composer within the Bollywood film industry who has also worked in Hollywood. He began nurturing his musical talent as a small child, immersing himself in the traditions of Hindustani classical music before picking up Western classical piano while at school. After studying law at university for five years and honing his musical skills in parallel to his studies, Shashwat Sachdev upped sticks to Los Angeles in order to kickstart his career. Using his Indian classical training and know-how as a blueprint, he began working on fusion compositions under the tutelage of famed producer Tony Maserati (BeyoncÃ©, Usher, The Black Eyed Peas) before returning to India in 2016 bursting full of ideas. 2017 saw the release of his first commercial breakthrough, working on the Indian Hindi fantasy comedy film Phillauri, which paved the way for future opportunities. He was commissioned to compose four songs for Bollywood female buddy comedy film, Veere Di Wedding (2018) and to work on 2019's Indian Hindi-language action flick Uri-The surgical strike. Shashwat Sachdev's work on the background score for the latter earned him the award for Best Background Music at the 66th National Film Awards while he also scooped the 65th Filmfare R.D. Burman Award for best new and upcoming talent.
