Biography
Seth MacFarlane is a multi-talented American entertainer, best known as the creator of the hit animated series Family Guy, American Dad! and The Cleveland Show. Born on October 26, 1973, in Kent, Connecticut, he made a name for himself early on with his incisive humor and taste for social satire. But beyond his work in animation and film, MacFarlane is also an accomplished singer, passionate about jazz standards and the great American tradition of crooning. Influenced by such legends as Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin and Nat King Cole, he has developed a refined vocal style, characterized by precise diction, a warm timbre and a self-assured retro elegance. He regularly collaborates with prestigious symphony orchestras, and his albums, such as Music Is Better Than Words (2011), No One Ever Tells You (2015), In Full Swing (2017) and Once in a While (2019), are hailed for their faithfulness to the spirit of the great vocal productions of the 1950s and 1960s. A perfectionist, he oversees the production of his recordings with meticulous attention, taking care to recreate the atmosphere and orchestral richness of the classic Capitol Records sessions. His musical work has earned him several Grammy Award nominations and growing recognition in the world of vocal jazz, where he is appreciated not only for his skills as a performer, but also for his deep respect for the repertoire. So he continued with classics from the golden age of Hollywood cinema and musical comedy in Great Songs from Stage & Screen (2020), followed by Blue Skies (2022), recorded at London's Abbey Road Studios with Joel McNeely, then We Wish You the Merriest (2023), a collection of Christmas carols performed as a duet with Elizabeth Gillies. In 2025, as purchaser of Frank Sinatra's music archives, he found a dozen scores that were to be the subject of sessions never performed, reconstituting the equivalent of an album in Lush Life: The Lost Arrangements.
