Upgrade, real name Samuel Smith, is a British drum'n'bass producer and DJ who has quickly become one of the leading names on the modern jump-up scene. Active since the early 2010s, he has made a name for himself with a precise approach: massive bass, pared-down rhythms and a keen sense of groove that enables him to appeal to underground party-goers and big festival stages alike. His major EPs of the decade include Push Dem Up (2012), The Killer Business (2014), The Godzilla (2015), No Nonsense (2016) and Jubilee Line (2018). After early successes on influential labels such as Serial Killaz, Low Down Deep and Elevate, Upgrade has imposed its sonic identity. In 2018, his track "Popular" brought him international recognition and became one of the most played singles in jump-up sets in the second half of the 2010s. On stage, he multiplied his appearances in the UK and Europe, renowned for his ultra-dynamic DJ sets. The following decade opened with the EP First Request, followed by Intermission (2022), Ride Out (2022), Marked (2023) and Everything for Nothing (2024). Iconic tracks such as "Total Carnage" (2019), "Cosmic" (2019), "You Got Me" (2019), "What It Means" (2020), "Heavy Rotation" (2021) and "Everybody" (2025) mark out his repertoire. In 2025, "Losing My Mind" breaks into the UK charts, ranking no. 79 for downloads and no. 83 for singles.
