Biography

Secret Service, a Swedish pop group formed in Stockholm in 1979, initially consisted of Ola Håkansson, Tim Norell, Ulf Wahlberg, Tonny Lindberg, Leif Paulsén, and Leif Johansson. The band's early breakthrough came with their participation in the Melodifestivalen 1979 under the name Ola+3. Their first single "Oh Susie" reached number one in Sweden and became an international hit, topping charts in 29 countries, including Germany. The group's subsequent singles included "Ten O'Clock Postman" (1980), "Flash in the Night" (1981), which was used as the theme for TF1's show Vous pouvez compter sur nous, presented by Pierre Bellemare, in 1981. Secret Service continued to evolve musically with albums like Jupiter Sign (1984) and When The Night Closes In (1985), which introduced hi-NRG sounds. Ola Håkansson left the group in 2000, and new members joined over the years, including Johan Becker and Fredrik Karnell. The band released several compilations, including Top Secret: Greatest Hits (2000) and The Lost Box (2012), which featured previously unreleased tracks from the 1980s and early 1990s, and remained active as a live act into the 2020s.
