Sassparilla is a roots-rock band from Portland, Oregon, formed in 2007. Their debut album Debilitated Constitution was released that same year, showcasing a sound rooted in country-blues and ragtime traditions with a punk sensibility. The group gained press coverage, including an appearance on the local ABC affiliate KATU. They subsequently released Rumpus in 2008 and Ramshackle in 2010. Their 2011 album The Darndest Thing garnered reviews outside of Portland, with coverage in outlets such as Static Multimedia. Their fifth album, Magpie, was produced by Eels' Chet Lyster and released by Fluff and Gravy Records. Sassparilla's live performances are known for their high energy, contributing to a following in the Pacific Northwest. The band has continued releasing albums, including Pasajero/Hullabaloo (2014), No Country, No Flag (2019), and Good For What Ails Ya (2020).
